T.I.'s Publishing Partnership Shows Why Ownership Remains the Real Long Game

T.I.'s publishing agreement with Reservoir places renewed attention on one of the music business's most important assets: the songs themselves.

T.I. has spent much of his career speaking about ownership, business and the importance of controlling the value created through an artist's work.

Reservoir announced a worldwide publishing agreement with the Grammy-winning Atlanta rapper covering his complete songwriting catalog, including past and future works.

Publishing is not always the most visible part of an artist’s career. Behind public moments, songwriting rights can continue generating income whenever music is streamed, purchased, broadcast, performed publicly or licensed into film, television and advertising. That is why catalogs matter.

T.I.’s catalog includes records such as “What You Know” and “Live Your Life,” along with songs spanning more than two decades of releases.

The spotlight is temporary. The rights can outlive it.

SOURCE: Reservoir confirmed that its agreement with T.I. spans his entire songwriting catalog, including past and future works.
