Netflix Changes Course on Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black—and the Audience Just Won

Netflix has renewed Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black for a fourth season after previously announcing that its upcoming third season would be the end.
Netflix thought the Bellarie family was approaching its final chapter. Now the family has been given more time to fight, scheme, survive and protect its empire.
Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black has officially been renewed for a fourth season, reversing Netflix’s earlier announcement that the upcoming third season would conclude the drama.
Netflix announced in December that Season 3 would be the final chapter. On July 23, 2026, the company changed course and confirmed that Season 4 is already moving forward.
“Beauty in Black is back for Season 4, and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished,” Perry said.
Beauty in Black premiered in October 2024 and built a substantial global following. The first season spent seven weeks in the platform’s Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 28 countries. Season 2 remained in the Global Top 10 for six weeks and reached No. 1 in 17 countries.
The renewal also carries a larger television-industry message. Black-led dramas are sometimes treated as though their audiences are narrow, temporary or difficult to measure. Beauty in Black demonstrates that Black stories can travel globally when viewers are given characters, conflict and emotion strong enough to keep them invested.
