Destiny's Child Is Opening the Vault—and This Is Bigger Than Nostalgia

Destiny’s Child may not be announcing a reunion album, but one of R&B’s most important catalogs appears ready to produce something new.

Mathew Knowles, the group’s former manager, revealed during an interview with SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio that previously unreleased Destiny’s Child remixes could arrive within the next 30 days.

According to Knowles, the material includes vocals from Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, along with guest rappers, dance versions and urban remixes. He also confirmed that Missy Elliott appears on one of the recordings.

Destiny’s Child previously explored that territory with the 2002 project This Is the Remix, which included contributions from Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Wyclef Jean, Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri and other major artists of the era. Their final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, followed in 2004.

More than two decades later, the group’s music remains part of the foundation of modern R&B and pop. The harmonies, coordinated presentation and themes of independence helped shape an entire generation of listeners and performers.
